Rayong Flooding Remains Critical: Several Points on Sukhumvit Road Waterlogged 40-50 cm, Vehicles Unable to Pass

Flooding in Rayong remains severe. The governor took a helicopter flight to survey the damage and accelerate relief for affected residents. Several points along Sukhumvit Road still have water levels around 40-50 cm, making it impossible for vehicles to pass. In Klaeng District, water levels are beginning to drop, with locals rushing to clean up.

On 30 Sep 2026 GMT+7, reporters stated that the Navy, led by Rear Admiral Tawisak Boonnam, Deputy Commander of the First Naval Area Command overseeing operations, obtained approval from the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy to use a Seahawk anti-submarine helicopter. Governor Traiphop Wongtrairat of Rayong, along with his team, boarded to conduct an aerial survey of flood damage and assess the situation in Rayong and surrounding areas in order to respond to this major flood disaster.

Rear Admiral Tawisak Boonnam, Deputy Commander of the First Naval Area Command, said the flooding caused by continuous heavy rain has extensively damaged houses, property, vehicles, and agricultural land of Rayong residents. Many traffic routes have been cut off, and food supplies are becoming scarce because vehicles cannot transport goods.

Governor Traiphop wanted an overview of the overall damage across Rayong province, so he coordinated with the Navy to support a helicopter flight to view the damage from above. This aerial assessment is to prepare for response efforts and expedite relief for the people.

Meanwhile, Rear Admiral Wasan Traijit, Commander of the First Naval Area Command and Director of its Disaster Relief Center, newly assigned to the role, emphasized the importance of aiding the people. The Navy has deployed personnel and equipment to evacuate residents from risk areas and provide assistance such as filling sandbags, moving property, and restoring homes and government offices. These efforts will continue until the flooding subsides.

Update on Rayong flooding: Several points on Sukhumvit Road remain impassable for vehicles.

The Facebook page of the Highway Police updated flood conditions in Rayong Province on 30 Sep 2026 GMT+7 at 12:00, reporting the current situation.

Currently, Sukhumvit Road in Rayong has water levels of approximately 40–50 centimeters at several points, making vehicle passage impossible. These locations include:

  • In front of the Star Shopping Center,

where flooding reaches 40–50 centimeters, preventing vehicles from passing.

  • From Maha Surasinghanat Camp to Tapong Intersection,

with water depths of 40–50 centimeters, blocking vehicle passage.

  • From Pho Thong Intersection to Nong Kapho,

where flooding of 40–50 centimeters prevents vehicles from passing.

Authorities recommend that residents avoid these sections of Sukhumvit Road and check routes before traveling.

In Klaeng District, water levels are beginning to recede, and locals are rushing to clear and clean their homes.

Floodwaters in the municipal area of Mueang Klaeng, Klaeng District, have started to recede. Residents, shop owners, and businesses, especially restaurants and karaoke bars, are urgently cleaning and restoring their premises to prepare for reopening and resuming normal operations.

Many houses and shops have taken out equipment, tables, chairs, and sofas affected by flooding to wash and sun-dry them in front of their stores. Meanwhile, owners and workers are spraying floors and clearing mud and debris brought in by the floodwaters.

However, just as they were cleaning and sun-drying items, another round of rain fell. Shop owners hurried to move tables, chairs, and sofas back indoors to shelter them before heavier rain arrived.

Several shop owners said that although water levels have dropped, much restoration work remains, including cleaning, electrical equipment inspection, and organizing damaged goods. Everyone is working quickly to finish so they can reopen and resume business to generate income as usual.
