Commander of Provincial Police Region 2 Holds Emergency Meeting on Flood Response, Orders Police in 8 Provinces to Prepare to Assist Citizens

The Commander of Provincial Police Region 2 held an urgent meeting on flood response, ordering police in 8 provinces to prepare to assist citizens with a 15-step plan covering both the flooding period and post-flood recovery.

On 1 Oct 2026 GMT+7, at the third-floor meeting room of the Provincial Police Region 2 headquarters, Lieutenant General Wasan Techaakkrasakem, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, chaired an urgent meeting to review and monitor the flood situation in the jurisdiction of Provincial Police Region 2. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commander, police commanders from all 8 provinces, and officers responsible for disaster prevention and mitigation.

This meeting established a 15-step operational plan to manage the flood situation, covering assistance to the public during floods, traffic management, distribution of essential supplies, and post-disaster rehabilitation. Police officers were instructed to closely coordinate with local authorities and related agencies.

Lieutenant General Wasan disclosed that, following policies from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Royal Thai Police Commissioner General Samran Nualma, who prioritize public hardship during floods, he convened the Deputy Commander and police commanders of the 8 provinces to assess the situation and devise systematic public assistance measures.

Reports indicate that special attention and aid are needed in three provinces: Prachinburi, Nakhon Nayok, and Rayong.

In Prachinburi Province, especially Sri Maha Phot District, both citizens and police officials have been affected by flooding. The Commander of Prachinburi Police has been ordered to deploy royal kitchen vehicles to set up kitchens to prepare food for those impacted. Coordination with the Prachinburi governor and relevant agencies is underway to integrate relief efforts and alleviate public hardship swiftly.

In Nakhon Nayok Province, particularly Ongkharak District, a lowland area, some villages have experienced flooding up to 3 meters. Although water levels are beginning to recede, the focus remains on restoring homes and damaged areas. Police have been directed to assist residents in recovery efforts alongside local authorities to enable a prompt return to normal life.

In Rayong Province, areas in Klaeng District and parts of Mueang Rayong District have been affected. Police stations in Klaeng District have experienced flooding, and residents are suffering distress. The Rayong Police Commander has mobilized officers to work with the Rayong governor to assist citizens and resolve the situation.

Lieutenant General Wasan added that although the situation in five provinces is improving, weather forecasts predict rainfall over the next 3-5 days in several areas, including potential water releases from Nakhon Nayok Province, which may cause further impact. Therefore, all units have been instructed to maintain full readiness.

Particular emphasis is on helping citizens, managing traffic, facilitating travel, and preparing and transporting essential supplies to affected residents promptly. All areas have been urged to closely monitor the situation and respond immediately when incidents occur.

The entire 15-step operational plan covers preparations before incidents, assistance during floods, and rehabilitation afterward, aiming to ensure that residents in the Provincial Police Region 2 area receive rapid and comprehensive care and support.
