However, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued Bulletin No. 2 regarding unstable weather in upper Thailand effective from 4-7 October 2026.

It stated that from 4-7 October 2026, upper Thailand will experience unstable weather characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusts, and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, affecting different regions during the following periods.

  • On 4 October 2026, the upper northern and eastern parts and the northeastern region
  • On 5-6 October 2026, the northern, central including Bangkok and its vicinity, eastern, and upper southern regions, with decreased rain in the northeast.
  • On 7 October 2026, the western parts of the north and central regions, as well as the southern region, with decreased rain in other areas.

This is because late in the rainy season, a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China spreads over northern and upper northeastern Thailand, causing initial thunderstorms, while the southwest monsoon continues to cover the Andaman Sea, southern region, and the Gulf of Thailand.

The public is advised to be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms, strong gusts, heavy and accumulated rain that may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying regions prone to flooding, and to avoid open spaces, large trees, and unstable advertising signs.

Waves and winds in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, with waves over 2 meters high in storm areas. Seafarers should check routes and navigate carefully, avoiding areas with thunderstorms.

Furthermore, from 8-12 October 2026, the eastern and southern regions will continue to have rain, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. The public should closely monitor weather forecasts during this period.

For safety and to minimize possible impacts, people are urged to plan their activities and travel cautiously during this time and to follow announcements from the Meteorological Department via their websitehttp://www.tmd.go.thor by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
