Water Flows Under Levee in Sing Buri, Leak Cannot Be Sealed Due to Risk of Further Damage

A mass of water flowed beneath a levee in Sing Buri. The head of the Subdistrict Administrative Organization stated that sealing the leak was impossible because water pressure could cause further damage to the levee. Approximately 15 households were affected.

At 10:20 a.m. on 2 October 2026, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sent a Cell Broadcast warning that water from the Chao Phraya River was flowing under the levee in Village No. 1, Hua Pa Subdistrict, Phrom Buri District, Sing Buri Province. Residents in the risk area, especially the elderly, patients, and children, were urged to evacuate immediately to safety, moving vehicles and valuables at once. Those needing assistance were advised to contact village leaders or community heads.

Local inspections revealed that the levee was breached by water flowing beneath it over a length of about 10 meters, with water rushing rapidly into the area. Residents hurried to move their belongings and possessions to higher ground.

Mrs. Sophee Chantawong, head of the Rong Chang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, said preliminary inspections showed that the soil under the foundation was sandy and had been eroded entirely by water. Sealing the leak was not possible as it would cause total damage to the levee. Therefore, they allowed the area to flood fully to reduce water pressure, since an outer road formed a secondary levee. This action affected about 15 households, and the residents accepted the situation.

Later, Woraditsorn Onnuch, governor of Sing Buri Province, and his team visited the site to inspect and provide assistance, evacuating patients and vulnerable groups. They also prepared basic supplies and equipment for the 15 affected households.
