Golf, a high-powered pump specialist, revealed that water levels at Romklao Housing Project have dropped by 30-50 centimeters. He plans to add four more pumps, aiming to clear the area within 2-3 days, and addressed controversy over who coordinated the effort.
On 2 Oct 2026 GMT+7, our team spoke with Golf Ch. Karnchang, owner of the high-powered pump team installing water pumps at Romklao Housing Project. He reported that after starting pump operation at about 10:35 a.m., water levels in some areas have fallen by approximately 30-50 centimeters and conditions inside have begun to improve.
The team is working to expedite water pumping as much as possible, cooperating with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, which coordinated the high-powered pump team’s involvement to address flooding in the area.
Golf said that previously his team helped pump water at Khlong Chan flats, where water dried up within 2 days. However, Romklao has about 3-4 times more water due to its larger area, so the initial estimate is 2-3 days to clear the flooding.
Currently, four high-powered pumps are operating, and the faster the water is drained, the sooner the impact and inconvenience to residents can be reduced.
For drainage, water is pumped from the area into Khlong Prawet Burirom canal, where water levels remain high. Therefore, coordination with the Navy provides water-pushing boats to accelerate downstream drainage. This effort involves cooperation among Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Ch. Karnchang Company, the Navy, and other related government agencies.
Regarding the controversy about the origin of the four pumps, Golf clarified that three belong to Ch. Karnchang Company, arranged through the Bangkok Governor’s coordination, while the fourth is from “Phuyai Beer” of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, a friend and team member who joined to assist.
There are plans to bring in four more high-powered pumps to install along the canal behind Bangkokkrit area. The team is currently surveying and clearing space. If approved, further coordination and updates will be provided.
Current obstacles include limited space for placing the pumps and floating debris carried by the water. When debris enters the pumps, it reduces their efficiency and requires stops to clear the debris.
The pumps operate efficiently when the water depth at the pump intake is sufficient, requiring at least 30 centimeters of water above the pump head. The Romklao Housing Project area differs from Khlong Chan flats because the latter has a nearby pond and confined water volume, whereas Romklao is larger with surrounding canals, resulting in significantly more water.
Previously, an incomplete flood barrier along the canal bank was an issue. Teams from Ch. Karnchang Company and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration used sandbags to reinforce the barrier near Soi 24, successfully stopping water intrusion at that point.
Golf stated that the pumps can operate 24 hours a day, pausing only briefly for refueling, to maximize water drainage and hopes for a swift resolution to the flooding at Romklao Housing Project.
