Mukdahan – Khamcha-i district administrative officials raided and arrested a 60-year-old grandmother boiling kratom juice for sale. She admitted her grandson mixed a mysterious secret formula, though the exact substance remains unclear. Authorities seized a large amount of evidence.
On 2 October 2026, reporters learned that Khamcha-i district administrative officials in Mukdahan province inspected a house after villagers reported that kratom juice was being boiled and sold openly to local youths in Phon Ngam subdistrict, Khamcha-i district. Villagers questioned whether such boiling and selling of kratom juice was illegal.
At 11:30 a.m. the same day, Mr. Theerapol Sawatnathi, district chief and head of the administrative operations group, together with police from Ban Kho Police Station and public health officials from Khamcha-i district, conducted a fact-finding inspection in Ban Faek, Phon Ngam subdistrict, Khamcha-i district.
They discovered a shop named Ton Khun in Ban Faek, Village No. 7, Phon Ngam subdistrict, Khamcha-i district, Mukdahan province, selling a large quantity of boiled kratom juice mixed with an unknown substance (which authorities could not yet identify), along with equipment for boiling and bottling.
Mrs. Puean, 60, identified herself as the shop owner and admitted to boiling the kratom juice. She said she was responsible for boiling, but her grandchildren were the ones mixing the formula, bottling it, and chilling the bottles. She said they intended to stop selling this batch after it was finished.
Authorities initially took the woman and the seized evidence to Ban Kho Police Station to proceed with legal action according to the law.
