The Meteorological Department issued Announcement No. 6 warning of unstable weather from 5–6 October. Rain will spread across several regions. Check the list of provinces at risk, including Bangkok and its metropolitan area, which will experience rain on both days. Authorities advise vigilance for flash floods and mountain runoff.

On 4 October 2026, the Facebook pageof the Meteorological Departmentupdated Announcement No. 6 at 05:00, stating that this round includes new information that the Eastern and Southern regions must continue monitoring rain through 13 October.

On 4 October, rain began along with unstable weather from the upper Northern region, the eastern part of the North, and the Northeastern region.

The focus dates are 5–6 October. Rain will spread to many areas including the North, Central region, Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and the upper South, with both heavy and very heavy rain. Meanwhile, rain will decrease in the Northeast. Bangkok and its metropolitan area will experience heavy rain on both days.

On 7 October, the rain will start to decrease, but will not cease entirely. There will still be heavy rain in western parts as well as some provinces in the East and South.

Impact If rain coincides with travel times, there may be traffic congestion, slippery roads, poor visibility, or flooding in low-lying areas. People near waterways and slopes should exercise extra caution as continuous or accumulated rain can cause flash floods and mountain runoff.

Provinces not on the list may still experience thunderstorms, but they are not expected to have heavy or very heavy rain as per the announcement.

Meanwhile, on the websiteof the Meteorological Department, full Announcement No. 6 regarding Unstable Weather in Upper Thailand (effective 4–7 October 2026) states:

Between 4–7 October 2026, upper Thailand will experience unstable weather characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, with impacts by region and time as follows:

- On 4 October 2026: upper Northern region, eastern part of the North, and Northeastern region.

- During 5–6 October 2026: Northern region, Central region including Bangkok and vicinity, Eastern region, and upper Southern region. Rain will decrease in the Northeastern region.

- On 7 October 2026: western parts of the Northern and Central regions.

This is due to the late rainy season with high pressure or cold air masses from China covering the North and upper Northeast, causing initial thunderstorms, while the southwest monsoon continues over the Andaman Sea, South, and Gulf of Thailand.

The public is advised to beware of dangers from thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, especially in areas near slopes, waterways, and lowlands prone to flooding. Avoid staying in open areas, under large trees, or near unstable billboards.

Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, with waves exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Fishermen in these waters should check routes and navigate cautiously, avoiding areas with thunderstorms.

From 8–13 October 2026, the Eastern and Southern regions will continue to have rain, with heavy to very heavy rain in some areas. The public should closely monitor weather forecasts during this period.
