The full announcement onWeather Disturbance in Upper Thailand (effective until 7 October 2023) Bulletin No. 10states that
during 6-7 Oct 2023, upper Thailand will experience unstable weather characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusts, hail, and heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas, with impacts varying by region and time as follows.
This is due to the late rainy season cold air mass or high pressure from China spreading over the North, Northeast, and upper Central regions, combined with easterly and southeasterly winds bringing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand to upper Thailand, while the southwest monsoon continues to cover the Andaman Sea, South, and the Gulf of Thailand.
The public is advised to be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms, strong gusts, heavy and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and debris flows, especially in foothill areas near waterways and lowlands, which may experience flooding. Avoid staying in open spaces, under large trees, or near unstable billboards.
Sea waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, with waves over 2 meters high in stormy areas. Fishermen in these seas should check their routes and navigate cautiously, avoiding areas with thunderstorms.
From 9-13 Oct 2023, the East, Central region including Bangkok and vicinity, and the South will see increased rainfall, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. The public should closely follow weather forecasts during this period.
For safety and to reduce potential impacts, the public is advised to plan daily activities and travel cautiously during this time, follow announcements from the Meteorological Department, and access information on their website.http://www.tmd.go.thor call 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
