"Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation" (DDPM) Latest update on flooding in 27 provinces and Bangkok, with urgent efforts to assist and relieve affected residents.
On 6 Oct 2026, Mr. Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, reported that heavy to very heavy rainfall in many areas recently, combined with water flowing down from the north adding to the central region’s water volume, has caused flooding in 27 provinces: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Nan, Phayao, Tak, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lopburi, Sing Buri, Chai Nat, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ang Thong, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Samut Prakan, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi, Samut Songkhram, Phetchaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, and Rayong, as well as Bangkok. The flood covers 126 districts, 999 subdistricts, 7,379 villages, impacting 1,149,285 households and 3,143,962 people (data from DDPM Operations Center, 6 Oct 2026, 06:00 hrs). These include:
Flooding has affected 329,000 households in Bangkok, with 4 deaths reported; water levels are receding.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation continues to closely monitor the water situation. Director-General Mr. Nirat has instructed provincial DDPM offices and regional centers in the affected areas to mobilize forces to assist residents urgently, coordinate with relevant agencies to assess damages, and prepare recovery plans in areas where the situation is improving. They are also compiling data on those affected and preparing to provide aid promptly according to applicable policies and regulations.
