Officials raided an elderly care facility in Nonthaburi Province. After a victim alleged being chained and forced to urinate into a bottle, initial inspection found no chains. The facility was authorized to care for 9 people but housed 81. A detailed re-inspection is planned.
On 8 Oct 2026, reports stated that at 3:00 p.m. on 7 Oct, Dr. Pornthep Lomphrom from the Health Establishment Division of the Department of Health Service Support, Mr. Supachai Singho, director of Health Service Support Center 4 (HSSC4), and police from Mueang Nonthaburi Police Station inspected an elderly care center in Talad Khwan Subdistrict, Mueang Nonthaburi District. This followed a complaint on a popular news program alleging the victim was chained to a bed and forced to urinate into a bottle during rehabilitation at the facility. There were initial concerns the center might not meet legal care standards.
Initial inspection found 81 male psychiatric and elderly patients housed in a three-story building with communal halls. Rooms contained about 15 beds placed closely, with shared bathrooms. Doors were locked to prevent patients from escaping.
Authorities found no evidence of leg chains as claimed, and no chains were found on the floor. The facility was licensed to care for only 9 elderly individuals, not psychiatric patients, and lacked psychiatrists or specialized nurses overseeing care. These legal issues will be addressed by police.
A thorough re-inspection is scheduled for 8 Oct. If violations are found, legal action will be taken, and officials will coordinate with guardians to retrieve the patients.
