Minister Worawut Inspects Factory Accused of Wastewater and Chemical Leaks Locals Submit Petition Demanding Closure

Minister of Industry Worawut Silpa-archa visited Prachinburi province to inspect an industrial factory that has been reported for discharging wastewater and chemical leaks. Hundreds of local residents submitted a petition demanding the factory's closure and removal of chemical waste from the area to authorities promptly.

At 10:00 a.m. on 19 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Minister of Industry Worawut Silpa-archa and his team visited Prachinburi to monitor solutions to an oil leak issue. Accompanied by Chanathip Khokmanee, Deputy Governor of Prachinburi, the provincial industry officer, and related agencies, they inspected a company in Si Maha Phot District. The company explained that flooding had entered their recycling factory and landfill, causing oil tanks at the front and rear of the site to leak oil.

Meanwhile, nearly 100 representatives from three districts—Si Maha Phot, Si Mahosot, and Ban Sang—arrived holding protest signs. They prepared to submit a letter along with over 1,300 names of those affected, urging authorities to close the factory and promptly remove the industrial waste piles from the area.

Police Colonel Thanakrit, representing the local residents, stated that the community is deeply concerned about pollution contaminating water sources and agricultural land, affecting the environment and their way of life. They demand the Ministry of Industry thoroughly investigate the facts and, if violations are confirmed, immediately order the factory to cease operations.

After completing the first inspection, the Minister planned to visit a second company in Krok Sombun Subdistrict, Si Maha Phot District, which operates in dismantling, separating, and shredding electrical appliances and electronic components. The allegations regarding environmental impact are still under scientific examination by relevant authorities to verify facts before any legal measures are taken.
