After two days with no sign, authorities have mobilized forces to search for a 44-year-old local man who drowned in the overflow dam at Khao Chakan, Sa Kaeo Province, while fishing. Relatives hold onto hope and have conducted rituals to help the search go smoothly.
On 19 Oct 2026, reporters reported that Sa Kaeo Rescue teams, along with divers, continue to intensify the search for Mr. Jarun Jan-ngern, 44, who went missing after drowning near the overflow dam behind Khao Chakan Police Station in Khao Chakan District, Sa Kaeo Province, while fishing on 18 Oct.
Today marks the second day of the search. Officials have concentrated efforts to inspect the area where Mr. Jarun disappeared and have extended the search about 50-100 meters downstream. However, the missing man's body has not been found. The operation is difficult due to dense vegetation, strong currents, and hazardous areas. The team uses their expertise and carefully assesses the situation to ensure the safety of the search teams.
Meanwhile, relatives and local villagers continue to monitor the search closely. Ms. Kasorn Baodej, 51, the missing man's aunt, said she was unable to come to the scene yesterday but managed to travel today to wait for news, hoping to find her nephew soon. The family also invited Buddhist monks to perform ceremonies to inform the sacred spirits according to their beliefs, praying for a smooth search and a quick recovery of Mr. Jarun's body.
Sa Kaeo Rescue officials continue their full-scale search despite challenges posed by the terrain and strong currents. The family and local residents remain hopeful, eagerly awaiting news that Mr. Jarun will be found soon.
