Meteorological Department Issues 8th Warning for Heavy Rain Until 25 Oct 2026, Risk of Flash Floods

The Meteorological Department issued its 8th bulletin warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall from today until 25 October 2026, along with strong gusty winds and the risk of flash floods. It advises avoiding routes prone to recurrent flooding problems.

At 17:00 on 20 October 2026, the Meteorological Department issued its 8th bulletin concerning heavy to very heavy rain across Thailand, effective until 25 October 2026. From 21 to 25 October, the southern region will have continuous rain with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall. The lower northeastern, lower central regions, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the eastern region, and upper southern areas will see increased rainfall and some places will experience strong gusty winds.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to be cautious of strong gusty winds, heavy to very heavy rain, and ongoing accumulated rainfall that could cause flash floods, mountain stream floods, and landslides. Especially vulnerable are hillside areas near waterways and low-lying zones. People should avoid traveling through routes frequently affected by flooding, particularly low-lying areas prone to waterlogging.

This situation is due to a monsoon trough passing through the central southern region, combined with the southwest monsoon covering the lower Andaman Sea. Meanwhile, a high-pressure system or cold air mass from China is extending over the upper northern, upper northeastern regions, and the South China Sea, resulting in easterly winds covering Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand in areas with thunderstorms will exceed three meters in height. Fishermen in these waters should navigate with caution and avoid traveling in areas experiencing thunderstorms.

For safety and to minimize potential impacts, the public is advised to plan daily activities and travel carefully during this period. People should continuously monitor announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access updates at http://www.tmd.go.th or via the 24-hour hotlines at 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182.
