The owner of a motorcycle taxi vest tailoring shop is under intense stress after the sudden announcement to cancel the use of blue vests. Production of over 300 vests has stopped, leaving him almost fainting. He had invested tens of thousands of baht and admitted he never agreed with switching to the blue color from the start.
Following the Governor of Chonburi Province's announcement this morning to cancel the use of blue motorcycle taxi vests, as previously reported,
At 15:00 on 22 Oct 2026, reporters visited “Chang Nit” tailoring shop located inside Siam Country Club alley, Nong Prue subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi Province. The shop specializes in tailoring motorcycle taxi vests and has been severely affected by the cancellation of blue vests.
When the news team arrived, the shop was producing blue motorcycle taxi vests to deliver to customers—motorcycle taxi groups who had placed multiple orders.
Mr. Pinit Yodsanga, 54, the shop owner, told reporters that after hearing the sudden announcement to cancel the blue vests without warning, he felt shocked and very stressed. Being a heart patient, he nearly fainted. He had just ordered two rolls of blue fabric (each 60 meters) to make vests for motorcycle taxi groups that had placed orders totaling around 350 pieces. He had already paid for the fabric, amounting to tens of thousands of baht. He declined to specify the total customer payments but admitted the losses were significant.
Going forward, production will be halted. The shop will contact the motorcycle taxi groups who ordered the blue vests—some have paid in full, others not yet. For those who already paid, no refunds will be given but the shop will provide free orange vests instead. For those who have not fully paid, negotiations will follow to determine the outcome.
Mr. Pinit also stated that he never agreed with the switch to blue vests from the start, as he found the color too dark. He had proposed using bright green reflective strips instead, since the silver reflective strips blended too much with the dark fabric. Ultimately, production continued with the blue vests, causing problems that have now forced a return to the original orange vests.
While reporters spoke with the tailor, a motorcycle taxi driver came to request a refund for his blue vest. He said he agreed with the cancellation, noting that wearing the blue vest had reduced his income because the public was confused. Regarding the 550 baht he spent on the vest, he said it was not a big issue since he at least got the vest. However, if Bang Lamung District allows returns and replacement with a free orange vest, that would be a positive resolution.
