Administrative Officers Raid Riverside Hotel in Kanchanaburi for Operating Without License

Administrative officers conducted a raid on a well-known riverside hotel in Tha Muang, Kanchanaburi, following complaints. They found the hotel could not produce a valid license for the authorities.

On 22 Oct 2016 GMT+7, Mr. Wutthipong Supakwanich, Deputy Governor of Kanchanaburi, disclosed the results of an investigation into hotel businesses in Tha Lo subdistrict, Tha Muang district, Kanchanaburi. Following a directive from the Department of Provincial Administration urging provincial and district officials to inspect hotels, combined with complaints received by the Provincial Damrongtham Center, it was found that one hotel was secretly renting out 78 rooms daily. An undercover agent used the service and confirmed the facts, leading to a joint raid where rooms were being rented at 1,500 baht per day.

Upon inspection, the hotel manager could not present a hotel business license to the authorities. One offender was identified: 27-year-old Ms. Sharon from Kanchanaburi. She was charged with operating a hotel without a license from the registrar, under Section 15 in conjunction with Section 59 of the Hotel Act B.E. 2547 (2004). Evidence seized included a 1,000-baht bill used for the undercover purchase, a copy of a 500-baht bill also used for the purchase, a room receipt, a breakfast coupon, a photo of the key card for room 205, a business card for Hotel Kanchan Jet Ski and Resort, and a hotel guest registration card.

The arrest record was then submitted to the investigator at Tha Muang Police Station. The Kanchanaburi Provincial Administration Office will continue to monitor the case's progress and maintain strict inspections and enforcement of hotel businesses throughout Kanchanaburi province.
