Heavy Rain Hits Phuket for Over an Hour, Flooding Several Areas Meteorological Department Warns of Heavy Rain in Southern Thailand from 23-29 Oct

Phuket experienced heavy rain lasting more than one hour, causing flooding on multiple roads and making travel difficult for small vehicles. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in Southern Thailand from 23 to 29 October.

On 23 October 2026, at around 13:10, continuous rainfall occurred in Phuket for about one hour, resulting in flooding in several areas, especially on roads and travel routes, raising concerns among residents and motorists.

Flooded areas reported include the road along the runway beside the airport in Mai Khao Subdistrict, Thalang District; in front of Simon Cabaret on Sirirat Road, Patong Subdistrict, Kathu District; the Karon roundabout; and Soi Ketkwan in Karon Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department announced that between 23 and 29 October 2026, Southern Thailand will experience continuous rain with some areas seeing heavy to very heavy rainfall due to the monsoon trough passing over the region.

Especially from 24 to 27 October 2026, a low-pressure area over the upper Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen, resulting in stronger winds and waves in the Andaman Sea. The upper Andaman Sea will have waves about 2 meters high, with waves exceeding 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms.

Authorities urge residents in vulnerable areas to closely monitor weather warnings and be cautious of flooding and drainage blockages, particularly motorists during heavy rain. Boaters are advised to increase caution when navigating and avoid areas experiencing thunderstorms.
