On 23 Oct, Mr. Taiwut Khankaew, Permanent Secretary of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, said during a visit to inspect and encourage flood-affected residents in Nong Chok district that the BMA executives had visited to support the more than 100 communities in this large area. Many locations had suffered prolonged waterlogging. The BMA is concerned about public health and living conditions, especially the effects of polluted water, mosquitoes, and venomous animals. Survival kits were distributed to alleviate hardships, and the Nong Chok district executives were instructed to closely assist and prepare ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures for after the floodwaters recede.
The Permanent Secretary added that during this visit, a meeting was held with Nong Chok district executives and community representatives at the district office to monitor the water situation and plan solutions. The meeting concluded with a plan to manage water drainage through the main canal network, improve drainage efficiency into connecting canals, elevate embankments and floodgates, and develop a long-term plan to expand canals to accommodate floodwaters and store water for the dry season. Coordination was made for the district office to send staff to oversee sanitation, distribute medicines and mosquito repellents, and advise residents to prepare documents and register for relief assistance after the flood subsides via district offices and online systems to ensure prompt and comprehensive support for home repairs.
