In Chaiyaphum at Kaeng Khro District Office, an 18-year-old woman arrived carrying 100,000 baht in cash to contact administrative officials, hoping to secure the release of her boyfriend who had been arrested for drug offenses involving 84 methamphetamine pills and 2 grams of crystal meth. The officials refused and proceeded with bribery charges against her.
This incident followed an operation on 22 Oct 2026 at 13:30 under the direction of Anan Nakniyom, Governor of Chaiyaphum; Pratthakorn Busawanakorn, District Chief of Kaeng Khro; and Lt. Col. Kittipong Yodchaiphet, District Chief of Phu Khieo, who ordered the administrations of both districts to integrate forces in the “Protect Phaya Lae City” campaign to intensively crack down on drugs in the border area.
After receiving information from local residents and sources, officials led by Thanavee Angsuchavalakit, Chief Security Officer of Kaeng Khro District, coordinated with a special operations team from Phu Khieo District, led by Piti Patchakheaw, Chief Security Officer, along with members of the Territorial Defense Volunteers, to raid and search a target house in Village 1, Nong Kham Subdistrict, Kaeng Khro District, Chaiyaphum Province.
The search resulted in the arrest of one male and one female suspect, with the seizure of 84 methamphetamine pills and 2 grams of crystal meth found at the residence. They were charged with drug-related offenses and taken with evidence to Kaeng Khro Police Station for prosecution according to the law.
At about 15:00 on 23 Oct 2026, the 18-year-old woman, claiming to be the suspect's wife, contacted the arresting officers to negotiate the release of her boyfriend, offering a substantial cash bribe.
Thanavee coordinated and planned for the woman to bring the money to negotiate at Kaeng Khro District Office, documenting the event as evidence. Upon her arrival, officials inspected her bag and found 100,000 baht in cash offered to secure the suspect's release. She was arrested and charged with offering property to an official to induce improper performance of duties. The case was reported as bribery, and the suspects were sent to Kaeng Khro Police Station to investigate the origin of the 100,000 baht and to proceed with legal action.
