Phuket Hit Hard by Heavy Rain, Flash Floods Overflow in Patong, Mudslides Block Roads and Communities in Na Nai Alley

Phuket was heavily affected around midnight as continuous rain caused flash floods in many areas. Water in the city reached 30–50 cm. Patong was severely hit when flash floods swept mud onto roads and into communities in Na Nai, damaging homes and shops.

On 26 October 2026, reporters reported that since midnight, continuous rain fell in Phuket province, causing flooding at many points, especially within Phuket City Municipality. Flooded areas included Bangkok Road, Yaowarat Road, Ranong Road, Sam Yaek Tha Khaeng intersection, Chao Fa East Road in Talad Nuea subdistrict, with water levels around 30–50 centimeters. Municipal officials and disaster prevention staff urgently deployed fire trucks to drain water and placed metal barriers around flooded zones to prevent danger and assist commuters.

Meanwhile, residents in flooded areas were affected by water entering their front yards; some placed chairs to block entrances to prevent splash from passing cars and motorcycles from entering their homes.

In Kamala subdistrict, Kathu district, at about 01:30, officials inspected flood conditions and traffic. They found flooding on the road from Phuket FantaSea intersection to the Kamala Seven-Eleven traffic light, with traffic limited to one right lane.

Flooding was also reported near the entrance curve to Kamala Police Station. Police officers and local leaders assisted residents, managed traffic, and closely monitored the situation, warning that continued rain could raise water levels further and affect travel.

Patong experienced heavy rain and flash floods that swept mud and debris onto roads and community areas.

In Patong area, continuous heavy rain caused flash floods into Na Nai, Patong subdistrict, Kathu district, especially near Makro Na Nai, around 03:05, causing widespread damage.

The strong floodwaters carried rocks, soil, and mud that covered roads and community spaces extensively. Some homes were damaged, belongings and vehicles were destroyed by the water, and some shops lost all their items swept away by the current.

This situation caused severe hardship for local residents amid concerns about ongoing heavy rain and flash flood impacts experienced overnight.

Most recently, on 26 October 2026 at 06:20, Mr. Chotinrin Kerdsom, Phuket Governor, assigned Deputy Governor Romdon Hayiawe along with the heads of Phuket’s disaster prevention office and staff from Disaster Prevention Center Region 18 Phuket to follow up on floodwater and flash flood conditions at Na Nai 5 alley, Patong subdistrict, Kathu district, Phuket.

Related agencies and sectors mobilized resources and personnel to clean the area, removing debris and waste to restore cleanliness and order, and to alleviate difficulties faced by residents affected by flooding.

Phuket province and related agencies continue to closely monitor the situation and coordinate efforts to assist and rehabilitate affected areas so that residents can quickly return to normal daily life.
