Dr. Seri Warns of Large Rain Cloud Forming in the Andaman Sea, Points Out Risk Areas, Urges Prompt Evacuation

Dr. Seri warned that there is limited time to move belongings to higher, safer locations by tonight after models detected a large rain cluster in the Andaman Sea accumulating energy and moving toward coastal areas, highlighting the risk zones.

At approximately 22:25 on 26 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Associate Professor Dr. Seri Suparat, Director of the Climate Change and Disaster Center at Rangsit University and Vice Chairman of the National Disaster Warning Council Foundation, posted on Facebook a flood risk warning for vulnerable areas, stating: "There is little time to move vehicles and belongings to higher ground immediately; it will arrive in the darkness after midnight. Risk areas for flash floods and community flooding are identified."

The Climate and Disaster Center at Rangsit University and the National Disaster Warning Council Foundation updated the latest rainfall forecast on 26 Oct at 21:00 GMT+7. The NowCast model found a large rain cluster in the Andaman Sea gaining energy and moving toward the Andaman coastal areas, posing risks of flash floods and community flooding particularly in Phuket and coastal areas of Krabi, Trang, and Satun provinces. They urged residents to move vehicles and valuables to safe locations by midnight and to closely follow updates.

Then at 22:30 GMT+7, the Facebook page “Southern Meteorological Center (East Coast)” posted a message stating heavy rain clusters are occurring in Pak Phanang, Chian Yai, Hua Sai, Cha-uat districts and the coastal areas of Mueang and Tha Sala districts in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, warning of dangers from heavy rain, strong gusts, and waves exceeding two meters.
