The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has warned six central provinces and Bangkok to monitor high tide conditions from 27 October to 5 November 2026. They alerted riverside risk areas to closely follow the situation and coordinated with officials to remain ready to assist the public 24 hours a day.
On 27 October 2026 at 10:30 a.m., Mr. Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, announced that the DDPM, acting as the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC), received notification from the Hydrographic Department of the Royal Thai Navy. The announcement concerns water levels in the Chao Phraya River near Phra Chulachomklao Fort and surrounding areas from 27 October to 5 November 2026 (Announcement No. 14/2569), issued on 26 October 2026.
It stated that between 27 October and 5 November 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be high tide periods expected to cause riverbank overflow and increased water levels in rivers and canals. This may result in flooding of low-lying riverside and canal areas, including communities outside flood barriers and places without permanent flood protection (known as 'gap areas'). The areas under high tide monitoring during this period are as follows.
The central region includes six provinces and Bangkok as follows:
The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command (CDPMC), under the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, has coordinated to notify these six central provinces—Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Prakan—as well as Bangkok to closely monitor the high tide situation.
They have also requested that provincial authorities inform the public about the high tide periods and alert relevant agencies and private sector operators along rivers and canals, such as those involved in embankment construction and riverside restaurants. Residents living near rivers and in low-lying risk areas are urged to remain vigilant and closely track the situation. Additionally, machinery and disaster response teams should be stationed at vulnerable locations, ready to respond and assist the community immediately.
Residents can follow warnings and announcements through the "THAI DISASTER ALERT" application. If affected by the situation, they can report incidents and request assistance via the "DDPM Incident Report 1784" Line account by adding friend Line ID @1784DDPM or by calling the 24-hour emergency hotline 1784 for prompt coordination of aid.
