Man Goes Mad, Sets House on Fire and Attacks Ex-Wife with Knife Police Injured in Arrest Attempt

A 44-year-old man went into a frenzy, stormed into his ex-wife's home setting it on fire and stabbing her with a knife after his attempt to reconcile failed. Police negotiated for five hours without success and used tactical methods to arrest him; one officer was injured with knife wounds to the head and palm.

On 28 October 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Kawinwet Wiriyasiriphakdi, deputy superintendent of Khlong Luang Police Station, received reports of a man going berserk attempting to reconcile with his ex-wife before setting her house on fire and stabbing her, causing injuries. The incident occurred in a village in Khlong Nueng Subdistrict, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. Authorities, including Police Lieutenant Colonel Siam Yotpranee, patrol officers, investigation team members, fire trucks, and rescue vehicles from Khlong Luang Municipality, rushed to the scene.

The scene was a two-story townhouse connected to others, with the ground floor used as a fruit sorting place. Flames were seen engulfing the second floor. Firefighters rapidly sprayed water to prevent the fire from spreading. Inside the house and bathroom area, the victim, Ms. Supansa Simnee, 44, was found with deep knife wounds on her left arm. Rescue workers provided first aid and rushed her to Thammasat University Hospital.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Non Simnee, 44, the victim's ex-husband. He fled upstairs to hide on the second floor, armed with a knife and an axe. Police tried to negotiate with him for over five hours without success, finally deciding to use tactics involving a spear-like pole to subdue and arrest him.

However, as officers approached, Police Sub-Lieutenant Kittisak Kraison, deputy patrol supervisor at Khlong Luang Police Station, was slashed by the suspect’s knife on the head and right palm, causing injuries. Officers quickly took him down for first aid and transferred him to Thammasat University Hospital. The police confiscated the suspect’s knife, axe, and spear as evidence before detaining him for interrogation and prosecution at Khlong Luang Police Station.

Neighbors who witnessed the event recounted that it began around 1:55 a.m. The woman lived and worked in the house. Although the couple had separated, the man refused to accept the breakup. Recently, he traveled by motorcycle from Ubon Ratchathani Province to seek reconciliation. When unsuccessful, he assaulted his ex-wife and set the house on fire. Neighbors attempted to intervene but were threatened by the suspect, forcing them to flee and notify authorities out of fear the fire would spread to nearby homes.
