Two Serious Charges Filed Against Intoxicated Man Driving Pickup Truck Who Killed 15-Year-Old Girl Mother Seriously Injured

In Amnat Charoen, police have filed two serious charges against an intoxicated man driving a pickup truck who struck and killed a 15-year-old girl. Her mother was seriously injured but forced herself to walk over and embrace her daughter's body in deep sorrow, saying her daughter had just gotten off the bus to help with work in the rice fields.

A reporter reported that at about 16:50 on 28 Oct 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Netithorn Thamapan, deputy investigator at Mueang Amnat Charoen Police Station, was notified of a pickup truck hitting a pedestrian, resulting in deaths and injuries on the Ban Kham Nguleum Road heading toward Ban Kaona Samakki, Non Pho Subdistrict, Mueang District, Amnat Charoen province. He coordinated with the on-duty doctor at Amnat Charoen Hospital and rescue personnel from the Amnat Charoen Rescue Association to investigate.

At the scene, a bronze silver Toyota pickup truck registered in Amnat Charoen was found with front-end damage. The driver, Mr. Subin (surname withheld), 64, was visibly intoxicated. About 50 meters away, Mrs. Bowonrat (surname withheld), 45, sat crying while embracing the lifeless body of her daughter, Ms. Rosaret (surname withheld), 15, who had died with a severely fractured head.

Mrs. Bowonrat, the mother, tearfully revealed that before the incident, she was walking to the farm in the rice field. Her daughter had just returned from school by bus and asked to get off to help her mother in the field. After only 3-4 steps together, a strong impact suddenly struck. At first, she thought a motorcycle had hit her, but upon regaining awareness, she realized her daughter had been struck and dragged over 50 meters by a pickup truck. Despite the pain, she ran to her daughter and found her already deceased, while the truck had slid another 50 meters beyond.

In the latest update on 29 Oct 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Netithorn Thamapan, the investigating officer, stated that the case has been accepted as a criminal matter. Two serious initial charges were filed against Mr. Subin: driving under the influence causing death and negligent driving causing death.

Regarding Mr. Subin's blood alcohol test results, though the exact figure could not be precisely determined, it was confirmed that his blood alcohol content exceeded 100 milligrams percent, which is above the legal limit.

As for Mrs. Bowonrat's condition, she suffered a broken left shoulder bone and cracked left ribs. She is currently resting in the female internal medicine ward at Amnat Charoen Hospital. Doctors have not permitted visitors yet. The investigator must wait for her condition to improve before conducting a detailed interrogation to gather evidence and proceed with the case firmly according to legal procedures. Meanwhile, the news team attempted to contact the pickup driver’s side but has not been able to reach him.
