Former Boy Band Singer Crashes Pickup Truck, Damages Six Vehicles, Injures Two

A former singer from a well-known boy band crashed a pickup truck at high speed, causing damage to six vehicles and injuring two people. He claimed he was using his phone and feeling mentally unstable after recently breaking up with his girlfriend. He walked around apologizing to all victims and promised to pay for all the damages.

At 18:30 on 30 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Net Thuenphueng, investigating officer of Mueang Chainat Police Station, received a report of a pickup truck speeding and crashing into parked vehicles along the roadside. The crash extended from the front of the Chainat Provincial Governor’s residence along Chainarong Road in Nai Mueang Subdistrict, reaching the walking street area. Numerous vehicles, pedestrians, and shops were damaged. Authorities, rescue volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation, and Mueang Chainat district officials quickly arrived to inspect the scene.

At the scene, six vehicles were damaged: one sedan, one Benz, one pickup truck, and three motorcycles. Two people were injured, with several others sustaining minor injuries. Several nearby shops were also damaged.

Rescue workers rushed the injured to Chainat Narentorn Hospital. The pickup truck driver was apprehended by citizens at a gas station in Thammamul Subdistrict, Mueang Chainat District, about 15 kilometers from the crash site. The white pickup truck, registered in Chainat, had severe front-end damage.

The driver, identified as Mr. Jetpaporn Naruphai, 45, from Wat Sing District, Chainat Province, was taken to Mueang Chainat Police Station. He spoke normally and apologized repeatedly to the victims. Authorities conducted a urine test which showed no drugs, and a breathalyzer test showed no alcohol. He was then handed over to investigators for legal action.

One of the victims said, “I took my child to the walking street to buy food when I heard someone shout, ‘Watch out for the car!’ The noise was loud. When I looked, I saw the pickup truck rushing toward the market, hitting parked vehicles and people. I quickly took my child away; the truck only grazed my pants. If I had been slower, it would have been much worse.”

Mr. Jetpaporn said, “I was driving into town to collect a debt from a friend. On the way back, I was using my phone and accidentally hit one vehicle. I panicked, fearing my father would be upset because I was using his truck. Then I lost control and crashed through the market, hitting people. I’ve been emotionally unstable lately due to a recent breakup and family problems. I sincerely apologize to all the victims, accept full responsibility, and will pay for all damages. I will also visit those injured.”

Mr. Jetpaporn Naruphai is a former member of the legendary boy band "BKK," which included Ter Tawan Jarujinda, Tae Nantasai Pisalyabut, and Tiw Siwat Naruphai (his former name). The band was known for the hit song "Why Must I Love You?".
