In the tragic incident, 'Chao Dui,' a five-year-old male Thai buffalo, gored his 59-year-old owner to death. The deceased’s son revealed that they planned to sell Chao Dui to the slaughterhouse and would no longer keep him in the pen.

On 31 Oct 2026, reports from Wat Pa Saen Thammaram, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province, stated that Monk Kru Sangharak Virovatn Virovattho, or Monk Kru Aod from Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, Chiang Mai, along with the monastic community and related parties, conducted a life redemption ceremony for 'Chao Dui,' the male buffalo involved in the incident in Buriram that deeply saddened many who followed the news.

Following the incident’s publicity, many members of the public and animal lovers expressed concern and sympathy for Chao Dui, fearing he would be sent to slaughter. They sought help through Monk Kru Aod to find a way to save the buffalo’s life. The case officer police also cooperated in facilitating the redemption process, which was successfully completed for 80,000 baht.

For this assistance, Chao Dui traveled a long distance from Satuek District, Buriram Province, to Chiang Mai to undergo the official redemption ceremony at Wat Pa Saen Thammaram. The aim is to allow Chao Dui to continue living, spared from slaughter, and to be cared for with the opportunity to serve as a breeding bull until natural death.

After the redemption ceremony, coordination took place with the Police Foundation and relevant agencies to find a suitable place for Chao Dui’s care. The plan is to transfer him to cattle and buffalo farmers in Song District, Phrae Province, under the Cattle-Buffalo Bank program, with a team assigned to continuously monitor his condition and living environment.

Thanks to the compassion and cooperation of many parties, Chao Dui has been given a new chance so that his remaining life will not end in a slaughterhouse but will be lived with dignity and proper care until the end.
