Overflowing Faith: Devotees Join Kathin Ceremony at Wat Pa Adulyaram, Raising Over 1 Million Baht

Overflowing faith as devotees join the Kathin ceremony at Wat Pa Adulyaram, with total donations exceeding 1 million baht to help build a second crematorium and support the temple's public welfare activities.

At 09:00 on 1 November 2026, at Wat Pa Adulyaram on Kanlapaphruek Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, where Phra Kru Adulsaranithet serves as abbot, the Kathin ceremony was lively and bustling. This event marked the first Kathin since the temple legally changed its name to 'Wat Pa Adulyaram,' following a land dispute involving the temple's site with Pa Da and the heirs of Mr. Hiang Phimsi.

From early morning, people and devotees steadily arrived to make merit. Before the procession began at 09:09, the temple committee, senior disciples, and devotees dressed in fancy costumes as dancers and handsome figures welcomed the pilgrims, creating a joyful atmosphere with cheers along the route. Participants carried the Kathin trees around the sermon hall three times before placing them on the pavilion to start the Kathin ceremony, which was attended by a full crowd.

The Kathin hosts included Mr. To Kaewchorhor, Mr. Yutthachai and Mrs. Aranya Na Phatthalung, Mr. Kamphaeng and Mrs. Kamkaew Kaewsum, Mr. Pariwat and Mrs. Mali Rimwongsanukul, Mr. Chanchai and Mrs. Siwika Jiradonpaisan, Mr. Thawatchai and Mrs. Pikun Miljan, and Mr. Yod and Mrs. Yupa Kaewchorhor, along with many Buddhist devotees joining the merit-making. Around the sermon hall, relatives set up numerous food and drink stalls offering sweets and various dishes, drawing continuous queues of people, creating a lively environment. Inside the hall, people from many areas gathered tightly for the ceremony.

After placing the Kathin offerings on the pavilion, attendees continued to donate generously. Among them, the Phimsi family contributed an additional 16,000 baht. Then, devotees and the temple committee collectively tallied all the donations. Phra Kru Adulsaranithet, abbot of Wat Pa Adulyaram, led the monks in chanting and conducting the religious ceremony. The main goal of this Kathin was to raise funds to build the temple’s second crematorium to aid in handling unclaimed bodies, fulfilling the temple and abbot’s charitable mission.

The temple enlisted officials from Krungthai Bank to assist in counting both cash and e-donation funds, with police officers monitoring the area to ensure transparency. This was witnessed by the devotees present as a guarantee of the process's integrity. The total collected from the Kathin ceremony amounted to 1,002,123.76 baht after counting.
