Meteorological Department Issues First Alert: Unstable Weather in Upper Thailand and Heavy Rain in the South from 5-9 Nov 2026

The Meteorological Department has issued its first announcement warning of unstable weather in upper Thailand and heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern region, effective from 5 to 9 November 2026.

1 November 2026 GMT+7Meteorological DepartmentAnnouncement No. 1: Unstable Weather in Upper Thailand and Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall in the Southern Region (Effective 5-9 November 2026).

From 5 to 7 November 2026, upper Thailand will experience unstable weather characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and heavy rain in some areas. Initially, this will affect the northeast region, followed by impacts on the north, central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the east. The public is advised to be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds and to avoid staying in open spaces, under large trees, or near unstable billboards.

From 7 to 9 November 2026, the southern region will see increased rainfall with heavy rain in many areas and very heavy rain in some locations. Residents are warned to be cautious of accumulated rain which may cause flash floods and mountain flash floods, especially in foothill areas near waterways and low-lying areas.

This weather is due to a high-pressure system or another cold air mass from China spreading over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, causing stronger easterly winds covering Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

Waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand in areas experiencing thunderstorms will exceed 2 meters in height. Boaters in these waters should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.

For safety and to minimize potential impacts, the public is advised to plan their activities and travel carefully during this period and to continue monitoring announcements from the Meteorological Department via its website.http://www.tmd.go.thOr by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours a day.
