Meteorological Department Issue 4 Warns Upper Thailand to Prepare for Unstable Weather with Thunderstorms, Strong Winds, and Hail

Announcement from the Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) regarding weather conditions. Issue 4 warns upper Thailand to prepare for unstable weather featuring thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some areas from 5–7 Nov. The southern region will experience increased and heavy rainfall across many areas from 7–9 Nov.

On 3 Nov 2026, the Meteorological Department's website issued Bulletin No. 4 on unstable weather in upper Thailand and heavy to very heavy rain in the south, effective 5–9 Nov 2026.

From 5–7 Nov 2026, upper Thailand will experience unstable weather with thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, hail, and heavy rain in some areas. The Northeast will be affected first, followed by the North, Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East. Residents are advised to be cautious of thunderstorms and strong winds and to avoid open spaces, large trees, and weak billboards.

From 7–9 Nov 2026, the southern region will have increased rain and heavy rainfall in many areas, including some very heavy rain. Residents should beware of accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, especially in hilly areas near waterways and lowlands.

This weather is caused by a high-pressure system or another cold air mass spreading from China over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, strengthening easterly winds over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand where thunderstorms occur, waves will be over 2 meters high. Mariners in these areas should navigate cautiously and avoid sailing during thunderstorms.

For safety and to reduce potential impacts, residents should plan daily activities and travel carefully during this period. Continuous monitoring of updates from the Meteorological Department via http://www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182 is advised, available 24 hours.

The Meteorological Department warns today that Thailand will continue to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The daily weather forecast indicates that the North, Northeast, Central region including Bangkok and vicinity, and East will continue to have thunderstorms and some gusty winds. The South will see increased rain and heavy rainfall in some areas. Residents in these regions should be cautious of thunderstorms and gusty winds, avoiding open spaces, large trees, and unstable billboards during this period.

This is due to another cold air mass or high-pressure system spreading from China covering upper Northeast Thailand and the South China Sea, while easterly winds cover the Gulf of Thailand, Thailand, and the Andaman Sea.

Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand waves exceed 2 meters.

In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand areas with thunderstorms, waves will be higher than 2 meters. Mariners should navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas.
