Mae Sot on Edge as Myanmar Bullets Cross Border, Thai Soldiers Fire Warning Flare

The Mae Sot border is on edge as heavy fighting continues in Myanmar. Recently, stray bullets crossed into Thailand, striking a civilian house and causing damage. Thai soldiers immediately fired one warning flare round.

At 8:00 a.m. on 4 Nov 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Myanmar's Air Force used one Y-12 aircraft to air-drop food supplies and military equipment by parachute to troops at the 13th Tactical Command at Ticha Lae base, opposite Ban Wa Lay Nuea, Village No. 3, Phop Phra district, Tak province, about 3 kilometers from the Thai-Myanmar border. This operation supports holding the strategically important Ticha Lae base and command center vital for directing Myanmar military operations in the combat zone and surrounding areas.

Regarding the fighting between Myanmar's 22nd Division and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) at Min La Pan village, Myawaddy district, Karen state, Myanmar troops have been trying to send infantry forces to engage Karen fighters. RPG rounds crossed the border and struck a rooftop in Mae Sot district, Tak province, damaging a house. The homeowner and family members were unharmed.

After the incident, military personnel, local authorities, and Border Patrol Police Company 346 in Mae Sot investigated the damage and collected evidence. Meanwhile, Thai soldiers fired a warning flare immediately to alert the Myanmar side.

The Naresuan Task Force reported that on 3 Nov 2026 GMT+7 at 7:15 p.m., the Ratchamanu Task Force of Naresuan forces fired a warning flare in compliance with the Rules of Engagement (ROE) after stray rounds from clashes between Myanmar troops and ethnic minority or opposition forces landed on the Thai side in Mae Sot district, Tak province.

Last night, Myanmar forces launched heavy attacks on Karen positions both by air and ground at Min La Pan village, opposite Ban Huai Maha Wong, Village No. 9, Maha Wan subdistrict, Mae Sot district, about 0.5 kilometers from the border. Authorities warned local residents near the border to prepare to evacuate to shelters at Ban Mae Kon Gen School if fighting intensifies across the border.
