Meteorological Department Issues 8th Warning: Check List of Provinces Preparing for Unstable Weather and Heavy Rain Nov 5-9

The Meteorological Department issued its 8th warning about unstable weather and heavy rain, advising to check the list of provinces affected from November 5 to 9, and to watch for flash floods and mountain runoff.

On November 5, 2026, the websiteof the Meteorological Departmentissued a statement regarding unstable weather over upper Thailand and heavy to very heavy rain in the South, warning number 8. It stated that from November 5–7, 2026, upper Thailand will experience unstable conditions characterized by thunderstorms, strong gusts, hail, and localized heavy rain. The Northeast will be affected first, followed by the North, Central region including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East. The public is urged to be cautious of dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds, and to avoid open areas, large trees, and unstable billboards.

From November 7–9, 2026, the South will see increased rain with heavy rainfall in many areas, and very heavy rain in some places. People should beware of accumulated rain that could cause flash floods and mountain runoff, especially near foothills, waterways, and low-lying areas. This is due to another cold high-pressure system or cold air mass from China covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea, strengthening easterly winds over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

Waves in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand where thunderstorms occur will exceed 2 meters in height. Sailors in these waters should navigate with caution and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas.

For safety and to minimize potential impact, the public is advised to plan daily activities and travel carefully during this period. They should continuously follow announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information on their website.http://www.tmd.go.thor call 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
