The Bangkok Metropolitan Council approved a budget of 1.1 billion baht to proceed with flood relief projects and demanded clearer, actual-cost-based payment criteria, preparing to submit the matter urgently for the Bangkok Governor's signature.
On 4 Nov 2026 GMT+7, at the Irawatpattana Building, Bangkok City Hall, Din Daeng, during the 4th ordinary session, 4th meeting of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, Mr. Chatchai Mordi, councilor for Bang Na District and chairman of the special committee reviewing the draft Bangkok Metropolitan Administration expenditure budget for fiscal year 2027 CE, reported that following the council's initial approval of the draft budget on 28 Oct, a 28-member special committee met three times to review it. They amended the preamble in Clause 3 to specify the project as flood relief in Bangkok rather than general disaster and emergency assistance.
At the same time, the committee raised observations and recommendations as follows:
1. For the list of damaged materials and unit prices, Bangkok should compensate for damaged materials based on current market prices.
2. The criteria for paying relief funds to victims should be clear and well publicized to ensure consistent understanding among the public.
The meeting approved the draft Bangkok Metropolitan Administration additional expenditure budget for fiscal year 2027 CE, totaling 1,139,273,100 baht, to be paid from Bangkok's accumulated deficit reserves. The budget passed the second and third readings with 41 votes. Next, the Secretariat Office will submit the proposal to the Bangkok Governor for official promulgation.
