On 6 Nov 2026 at 06:30, the 4th Cavalry Company of the Chaiyanuphap Task Force, Pha Muang Task Force, deployed a patrol unit to monitor the natural passage of Pha Bong in Mon Pin Subdistrict, Fang District, Chiang Mai Province, aiming to prevent and intercept drug trafficking along the border.
During their operation, officers spotted about 3–4 suspicious individuals walking along the natural trail. When signaled for a search, the group fired unidentified firearms at the soldiers, leading to a roughly 5-minute firefight. The traffickers then escaped using their local knowledge, with no soldiers injured.
At 06:45, reinforcements conducted a thorough search and found three green backpacks containing approximately 518,000 methamphetamine pills, a Category 1 narcotic. The estimated economic loss to the drug syndicate if these had entered inner regions is about 25.9 million baht.
Later at 10:30, Major General Satit Waiyanon, Commander of the Pha Muang Task Force, assigned Colonel Jirachamnong Kosawang, Deputy Commander of the Chaiyanuphap Task Force, to represent the unit alongside Border Patrol Police Unit 334, the 35th Narcotics Suppression Command, Fang Police Station, Fang District Administration, and local volunteer defense members to inspect and announce the drug seizure results. All evidence was handed over to Fang Police Station for legal proceedings.
