TJ-SSF2025 Academic Exchange Platform for Thai-Japanese Science Projects

Education Minister Narumon received Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the opening of the Thailand-Japan Student Science Fair 2025, promoting Thai and Japanese youth to showcase scientific innovations and develop new researchers for the global arena.

On 17 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn attended the opening of the Thailand-Japan Student Science Fair 2025 (TJ-SSF2025). Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, reported and received Her Royal Highness, accompanied by the Governor of Pathum Thani, Secretary-General of the Basic Education Commission, expert advisors, the Chulabhorn Science School Development Committee, administrators, teachers, and students at Chulabhorn Science School, Pathum Thani, Lat Lum Kaeo District, Pathum Thani Province.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn stated that today the world faces unprecedented and unpredictable challenges threatening human life, such as global warming, climate change, and natural disasters. In this era of change, science and technology play a crucial role in deepening understanding of these hazards, enabling us to forecast events, develop artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and innovations for early warning, impact mitigation, and post-disaster recovery.

She expressed confidence that this conference will empower youth to create innovations and apply them practically, an urgent mission for all countries. This involves providing quality education, sufficient resources, guidance, and opportunities to join projects that stimulate curiosity, creativity, critical thinking with resilience and perseverance, preparing them as new-generation researchers who will be key drivers guiding the nation through change and toward long-term progress.


Additionally, the event will strengthen academic collaboration and deepen the friendship between Thai and Japanese youth. It marks the meaningful beginning of cooperation among young intellectuals to advance global progress through science, technology, and innovation, leading to sustainability both nationally and internationally.

Professor Dr. Narumon reported that this Thailand-Japan Student Science Fair 2024 is a great honor and pride, welcoming more than 571 participants from 75 institutions. These include administrators, teachers, and students from all 18 Chulabhorn Science Schools, partner schools, leading science schools across Thailand, as well as students from Japan’s Super Science High Schools and the National Institute of Technology (KOSEN).

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness granted permission for one student group each from Thailand and Japan to present academic work. Subsequently, permission was granted to welcome Professor Dr. Amano Hiroshi, 2014 Nobel Laureate in Physics from Nagoya University, to deliver a special lecture online, followed by Dr. Theeramet Pangprasert, a neurology resident at Siriraj Hospital, who gave a subsequent lecture.

Professor Dr. Narumon added that this year’s event aims to elevate the quality of Chulabhorn Science Schools to be on par with leading international science schools and to serve as a platform for exchanging academic and science project presentations between Chulabhorn Science Schools and top science schools in Japan.

The event featured student oral presentations in physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer science; laboratory activities divided into six rooms: physics, earth and astronomy, chemistry and materials science, STEM and technology, biology and environment, and mathematics; teacher activities for exchanging knowledge on guiding students to produce effective projects; international collaboration through the Thailand-Japan Educational Leaders Symposium (TJ-ELS2025); presentations of teachers’ academic work, research, and teaching innovations; and administrative meetings to exchange cooperation strategies to develop gifted science, math, and technology students. The event also included signing MOUs to expand and renew partnerships.
