The air quality index from Bangkok's monitoring stations mostly falls within the moderate air quality level.
The Meteorological Department forecasts cool weather in Bangkok during the morning.
Health advisory: Air quality at the orange level indicates health effects beginning.
For the general public: Use protective equipment such as PM2.5 masks whenever going outdoors. Limit time spent on strenuous outdoor activities or exercise. Watch for symptoms like coughing, difficulty breathing, or eye irritation.
For at-risk groups: Use protective equipment such as PM2.5 masks whenever going outdoors. Avoid strenuous outdoor activities or exercise. Follow doctors' advice and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms occur.
Related factors (forecasted weather conditions affecting PM2.5): From 21 to 22 Dec, air ventilation is "weak" while the near-surface atmosphere is closed with strong winds, suggesting moderate dust concentration. From 23 to 24 Dec, ventilation is "poor" with light winds, predicting moderate to higher dust levels before decreasing again from 25 Dec onward. Today’s forecast is cool mornings.
Satellite hotspot data from NASA shows no abnormal heat spots detected over Bangkok's surface area.
The Environment Office has coordinated with all relevant agencies to intensify measures under the dust control plan to mitigate the severity of PM2.5 pollution and its health effects. They encourage public participation and sector cooperation by adjusting behaviors and reducing dust-generating activities, promoting “5 ways to reduce dust you can do”: 1. Regularly clean homes by dust wiping; 2. Avoid burning waste and incense; 3. Plant trees to absorb pollutants and trap dust; 4. Use public transport; and 5. Turn off vehicle engines when parked and maintain engines to prevent excessive black smoke.
