Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal Crowded as People Flock Home for New Year Festival 2026

"Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal" is quite crowded as people flock home for New Year 2026. The Transport Company has prepared plans to deploy nearly 1,000 additional buses to accommodate travelers. It is expected that about 120,000 people will travel daily.

On 30 December 2025, the atmosphere during the year-end festival welcoming 2026 was lively. Many people were traveling back to their hometowns, causing roads to be filled with traffic in almost all areas, especially in Bangkok.

At 6:00 p.m., reporters visited Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal and found that people returning to their hometowns were still heavily using the Transport Company’s services, including routes to the northern and northeastern regions.

The Department of Land Transport has set up checkpoints at the exit of Mo Chit Bus Terminal to ensure the safety of travelers returning home. These include alcohol testing, driver’s license verification, drug testing, and checking whether drivers are sufficiently rested.

The Transport Company forecasts that about 100,000 to 120,000 people will travel daily during the New Year 2026 festival, both outbound and inbound, using buses operated by the company and affiliated services. The Transport Company has prepared nearly 1,000 additional buses to accommodate travelers and prevent passenger backlogs.
