New Year 2026 Gift: Year-Round Flu Vaccination Expansion and Enhanced Rights for Section 40 Insured Persons

The Social Security Office presents a New Year 2026 gift by extending year-round flu vaccinations and enhancing rights for Section 40 insured persons, the self-employed category.

On 1 January 2026, Mrs. Marsri Jairangsee, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, announced that in celebration of the New Year festival, the Social Security Office is ready to present a “New Year gift” to insured persons by expanding and enhancing two key benefits to comprehensively and thoroughly care for their health and quality of life.

The first gift is the extension of flu vaccination services for insured persons under Section 33 and Section 39 aged 50 and over throughout the year. Previously, flu vaccinations were offered only from May to August annually. The Social Security Office has extended this service to run from January through December each year, starting in 2026, to increase accessibility for insured persons. This also allows the 273 healthcare facilities in the Social Security scheme to provide proactive services, which must adhere to standards set by the Ministry of Public Health. The vaccine provided is a three-strain flu vaccine recommended by the World Health Organization and the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health.

The second gift is the enhancement of benefits for insured persons under Section 40, under the concept ‘More Rights, More Happiness with Section 40’. The Social Security Office has increased coverage in several areas, including higher income replacement for disability cases, increased child benefits, enhanced compensation for income loss due to injury or illness, as well as updated criteria for medical certificates related to COVID-19 illness and revised provisions for insured persons who die before reaching 60 years or before receiving old-age benefits. It is expected that 505,056 Section 40 insured persons will benefit from these enhancements, with a total value of 743.39 million baht.

Additionally, special promotions have been introduced through cooperation with private sector agencies, including a Section 40 marketplace on the SSO Plus app. This platform promotes products to the Section 40 insured network, allowing both insured persons and the general public to conveniently shop online and receive additional benefits. The Social Security Office has also facilitated benefit claims by linking the digital medical certificate system “Mor Prom” on the Ministry of Public Health's Digital Health Platform with the Section 40 benefit claim system via electronic self-service (e-Self Service), expected to benefit 188,100 insured persons.

These two New Year gifts reflect the Social Security Office’s commitment to equitably care for all groups of insured persons, modernize service delivery, improve accessibility, and truly enhance the quality of life for insured individuals.
