Department of Labor Welfare Clarifies Award to Italian-Thai for Outstanding Workplace Safety

The Department of Labor Welfare and Protection clarified that the award for outstanding safety and occupational health given to Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited is based on evaluation of specific parts only, not an endorsement of the entire company.

On 19 Jan 2026 GMT+7, Captain Saroj Komkai, Director-General of the Department of Labor Welfare and Protection, stated that following the appearance of certificates for the Thailand Safety Award granted to Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited and their dissemination through the media, the department wishes to clarify the facts for correct public understanding as follows.

In 2025, two establishments under Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited received the national Thailand Safety Award for outstanding safety and occupational health, namely:

1. Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited, Unit 2475, Formwork Production Service Center (Operations), engaged in manufacturing construction framework located in Wihan Daeng Subdistrict, Wihan Daeng District, Saraburi Province.

2. Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited, Rajathat Hospital Construction Project No. 2, located in Chatuchak District, Bangkok.

The Director-General added that participation and evaluation for the award are conducted separately by branch, unit, or project. Each must independently manage safety and occupational health systems and strictly meet the department's criteria and conditions, including safety standards, management, involvement of executives and employees, and safety performance within a specified period.

The performance considered covers safety work conducted over two consecutive years for industrial operations and one year for construction projects, with construction progress between 30-80%. Conditions require no safety-related legal actions, no employee fatalities, disabilities, or loss of body parts, no increase in injury rates causing more than three days of work absence, and policies promoting social responsibility in safety and occupational health.

Both establishments fully complied with safety and occupational health management criteria and passed evaluation according to requirements, thus receiving the national outstanding establishment award.

The Department of Labor Welfare and Protection emphasized that awarded units or projects are evaluated only for the parts that applied and passed assessment; this does not represent an evaluation or endorsement of the entire company. The awarded parts are managed separately and distinctly from other construction operations, strictly following the department's criteria.
