Democrat Party Confident of Winning at Least 5 MPs in Thonburi Area in 2026 Election

In the 2026 election, Democrat Party leaders "Ong-art and Chanin" led the campaign in Bangkok's Thonburi area, promoting the slogan "Choose Fah Talai Jone." They are confident the party will win at least 5 parliamentary seats in Thonburi.

On 1 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters covered the final campaign phase before the 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7 parliamentary election. The Democrat Party (DP), led by Mr. Ong-art Klamphaiboon, party advisor and Bangkok leader, Mr. Chanin Rungsang, party-list candidate, Mr. Napapol Jirakul, councilor, and other party leaders, canvassed support in particular in District 33 covering Bang Phlat and Bangkok Noi (except Siriraj subdistrict). The DP candidate is Mr. Jetsarit Lertthanasan (Joe), number 8. The team met residents and conducted a parade from Soi Charansanitwong 19 to Soi 35.

Mr. Chanin said he is confident that after campaigning in Thonburi, the Democrat Party, which previously held all seats in the area and missed representation for two terms, is receiving strong public support. He estimates the party will win more than half of the Thonburi parliamentary seats—at least 5 districts. The main reason is the policy "Thailand escapes poverty through capable people," which resonates across all ages and is not populist or a long-term burden on the country. Importantly, the return of Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva as party leader, despite only about three months in the role, has restored public confidence and brought change, especially regarding his commitment to develop the country into an honest society. The public frequently cites corruption as the top issue needing resolution. Many say this election they will support the "Blue Party" to tackle corruption, eliminate scammers and shadow capital interests, saying this vote means choosing "Fah Talai Jone."
