Air Force on Standby to Defend Border Amid Provocations and Ceasefire Violations

The Air Force spokesperson urged the public to have confidence that the Air Force is on standby to protect Thailand's sovereignty from threats on all fronts, despite provocations and ceasefire violations by Cambodia. He viewed Thailand's unity as the key factor in overcoming these dangers.

On 2 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Air Marshal Jakkrit Thamvichai, Air Force spokesperson, commented on the Thai-Cambodian border situation, stating that the Air Force continues its duties along the border as usual, maintaining vigilance since the second ceasefire declaration. All branches are prepared at all times to protect Thailand's sovereign airspace. Although Cambodia has provoked 2-3 times, especially the latest incident involving claims of kicking a fire winner causing a bright light, dialogue has been held to maintain a non-hostile environment. Thailand made clear that such acts are unacceptable as they violate clearly agreed terms.

He expressed uncertainty about all the events that have occurred but assured the Thai people that the Thai Air Force operates based on safety principles. He asked citizens to trust that the Air Force conducts its duties to protect itself as necessary and appropriate against threats, always with a humanitarian basis.

In past operations, the Air Force targeted only military forces and never civilians uninvolved in the conflict. This is supported by the absence of reports of civilian casualties on the Cambodian side according to their news coverage.

Regarding equipment readiness, the Air Force confirmed it is prepared for operations over the next 2-3 years. When equipment is used, replenishment follows through cooperation between the military and government. The entire Thai government, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence, works cohesively. This unity strengthens public confidence in the capability and solidarity of Team Thailand, which is seen as fundamental for the country's survival and security against multidimensional threats.

As for safety monitoring during border elections, security agencies are already overseeing the matter. All military branches have been on standby since 27 Dec 2026 GMT+7, prepared to respond to threats to Thailand on all fronts.
