Preparations Underway for Major Textile and Apparel Industry Event to Promote Thailand as a Global Sourcing Gateway

A major textile and apparel industry event is being prepared in Thailand from 3 to 5 June 2026, addressing the sector’s significant structural changes.

On 13 Feb 2026, reporters were informed about the upcoming "2nd Asia Sourcing Show 2026 (Textiles & Apparel)" and the "Global Sourcing Summit 2026" scheduled for 3–5 June 2026 at the IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok. This event gathers the global textile and apparel industry with the goal of positioning Thailand as a key gateway for global sourcing, an industry negotiation platform, and a hub for cross-border collaboration.

Mr. S.S. Sarwar, Group CEO of CEMS-Global USA & Asia-Pacific and organizer of the 2nd Asia Sourcing Show 2026 (Textiles & Apparel) and Global Sourcing Summit 2026, stated that Asia Sourcing 2026 is designed as a comprehensive multi-country sourcing platform. It combines the 2nd Asian International Apparel Sourcing Show and the 2nd Asian International Yarn & Fabric Sourcing Show, bringing together leading manufacturers and the textile value chain—from yarn and fabric to finished apparel and accessories—all in one venue. This is through strategic partnerships with organizations including The International Apparel Federation (IAF) and ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX), supported by the National Federation of Thai Textile Industries (NFTTI), the Textile Institute of Thailand (THTI), and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

This flagship platform has been developed as Thailand’s first global multi-country textile and apparel sourcing market. Its strategic aim is to elevate Thai manufacturers, brands, and the country’s industrial capacity to the global stage, supported by international industry bodies and agencies. The event seeks to strengthen regional cooperation, promote ASEAN manufacturing excellence, and connect Asia’s supply chains with buyers and policymakers worldwide. The 2nd Asia Sourcing Show 2026 is part of CEMS-Global USA’s Textile Series of Exhibitions held across regions including Bangladesh, Brazil, Morocco, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

Mr. S.S. added that the global strategic market is shifting as the textile and apparel industry faces major structural changes driven by supply chain diversification, trade tariffs, new trade alliances, nearshoring concepts, and the rise of regional trade groups in Asia emerging clearly as a global production and sourcing hub. Asia Sourcing 2026 is designed to respond to these changes by creating a centralized sourcing marketplace connecting Asian manufacturers with regional and international buyers seeking flexibility and multi-country sourcing. The event will showcase the capabilities of manufacturers across Asia, offering global buyers opportunities to discover new partners, expand sourcing networks, and explore product innovations and technologies—all at one strategic destination. Positioned as a powerful Asia-level B2B platform, it connects leading Asian producing countries with buyers from South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, East Asia, and Australasia, with Bangkok as the region’s geographical and commercial hub.

The Global Sourcing Summit 2026 will be held alongside the exhibition, gathering global federations, associations, policymakers, brands, procurement executives, and industry thought leaders to discuss strategic topics about the future of manufacturing, international trade, and sustainable growth. This will mark the first time Thailand hosts a global textile and apparel sourcing platform of this scale and scope, reinforcing the country’s role not only as a production base but also as a key gateway for sourcing in Asia. The event will feature leading Asian apparel manufacturers and exporters, yarn, fabric, accessory and material suppliers, textile technology and machinery developers, networking forums, knowledge sharing, and business matching activities. It is expected to attract 350 foreign exhibitors worldwide and 70 Thai business groups.

Mr. Jamnong Nawasamitwong, Thailand representative of the ASEAN Federation of Textile Industries (AFTEX), said that the Thai textile industry is at a point where many changes are needed to adapt to global market transformations. The 2nd Asia Sourcing Show 2026 and Global Sourcing Summit 2026 will help reshape the global supply chain, and Thailand will use this platform to strengthen regional ties. The Thai textile industry still has significant opportunities in the Asian market, which has a population exceeding 5 billion.

Mr. Chanchai Sirikasemlert, Director of the Textile Institute of Thailand (THTI), reported that in the past year, from January to November 2025, 25 new textile and apparel factories opened in Thailand, which currently has 2,629 such factories. These include 812 garment factories, 542 in household textiles, coated fabrics, and others, with the remainder in other textile categories. Last year, textile and apparel exports were valued at USD 6.1455 billion, approximately 200 billion baht. The main export market is the United States, accounting for 22.3%, though there are tariff risks in 2026.

However, Thai manufacturers must adapt by focusing on sustainable quality, transitioning production processes to Green Industry standards, and creating products with unique innovations. Meanwhile, key trading partners like Japan (11.2% market share) and the European Union are enforcing stricter sustainability standards. If Thai producers do not shift towards eco-friendly textiles, they risk losing access to premium markets. The industry must move from volume and price competition to innovation and sustainability to avoid price wars with Chinese products and meet new global standards, advancing towards a creative economy driven by sustainability.

Mr. Suthee Khositwongsakul, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Federation of Thai Textile Industries (NFTTI), stated that the overall industry and private sector involvement are driving changes to meet the evolving global market. The 2nd Asia Sourcing Show 2026 and Global Sourcing Summit 2026 will transform the global supply chain into a powerful Asia-level B2B platform connecting leading Asian producing countries with buyers from South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, North America, East Asia, and Australasia. Thailand will leverage this event to advance into international markets. Historically, the Thai textile and apparel market has grown significantly on such platforms.
