Valentine's Day at Pak Khlong Talat was bustling with crowds viewing flowers. Vendors revealed that sales did not surge due to high prices, with many deciding to buy smaller bouquets or single flowers.
On 14 February 2026, the Valentine's Day atmosphere at Pak Khlong Talat in Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok, was lively from early morning. A large number of people came to select flowers to give to their loved ones and special people on this day of love, filling the market densely with both Thai customers and tourists.
Most shops focused on selling red roses, which remain the most popular, along with other flowers such as lilies, tulips, and various sizes of pre-arranged bouquets available at different prices, including single flowers and large, beautifully decorated bouquets.
However, Aunt Yong, a flower vendor in the market, said that although many people came to browse and view flowers and the atmosphere was livelier than usual days, sales were not as strong compared to previous years due to higher flower prices driven by increased costs, including transportation and higher farm prices.
“Many people really came to look and browse enthusiastically, but when they see the prices, they may decide to buy smaller bouquets or just single flowers instead, so sales haven’t surged like several years ago,” Aunt Yong said.
Several vendors admitted they had to adjust their strategies by offering smaller, more affordable bouquets to better reach students, university attendees, and working adults. Meanwhile, municipal officers and police were on site to maintain order and manage traffic around the market to facilitate the convenience of people coming to buy flowers on this important day.
