Privy Councillor Charan Thadda Kransut Passes Away Peacefully at 77

Privy Councillor "Charan Thadda Kransut" passed away peacefully at a hospital at the age of 77. His biography and roles as a privy councillor and in royal duties are presented.

On 19 Feb 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that Mr. Charan Thadda Kransut, Privy Councillor and former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, passed away peacefully at a hospital at the age of 77.

Biography of Mr. Charan Thadda Kransut


Mr. Charan Thadda Kransut was born on 22 Aug 1949. He was the son of Preeda Kransut, former Director-General of the Department of Fisheries and former Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Mom Rajawongse Toem Saengkhai Rapeepat. He was a great-grandson of Prince Ratchaburidirekrit and Prince Chumphon Khet Udomsak. He was appointed a privy councillor under King Rama X by royal decree.

He earned a bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Fisheries at Kasetsart University before entering civil service with the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and advanced through government administration.

Mr. Charan Thadda previously held important positions such as Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and Advisor to the Royal Secretariat before becoming a privy councillor. He also contributed to public welfare and royal initiative projects in various fields.

Additionally, Charan Thadda received numerous awards and honors including Outstanding Alumnus of Kasetsart University, the Outstanding Agricultural Scientist Award, and royal decorations from both Thailand and abroad, including the Order of the Rising Sun from Japan, as had his father, Preeda.
