Approval Granted for 19 Degree and Certificate Programs from 13 Institutions

Minister Narumon chaired the Teachers' Council meeting, approving accreditation for 19 academic programs from 13 institutions and endorsing competency assessments for 3,450 teachers. The council emphasized accelerating reforms to integrate teacher testing and professional licensing within the educational programs themselves.

On 26 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters learned that Mrs. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, presided over the 2/2569 meeting of the Teachers' Council at the Rajawallop meeting room, Ministry of Education, Bangkok. The meeting was attended by committee members and Assistant Professor Amolwan Veerathammo, Secretary-General of the Teachers' Council, who is also a committee member and secretary. Mrs. Narumon stated that the meeting approved accreditation for degrees and educational certificates according to professional standards, covering 13 institutions with a total of 19 programs. They also approved changes to previously accredited degree and certificate details by the council, including revised student intake plans for 4 institutions covering 10 programs.

Additionally, the council approved the results of professional competency assessments for teachers in work performance and conduct based on teaching profession standards. A total of 3,450 individuals passed the evaluation in meeting 2/2569. Among these, 3,428 are currently enrolled in degree and certificate programs, including 1) 2,423 students in bachelor's degree programs in education, 2) 983 in professional graduate certificate programs, and 3) 22 in master's degree programs in education (teaching profession). Also, 22 graduates from other degree programs who passed knowledge certification were recognized. The Secretary-General's office was assigned to proceed with related administrative matters.

Mrs. Narumon added that the meeting provided extensive feedback on sustainable development plans for teacher testing. The Teachers' Council was tasked with reviewing these observations to enhance the effectiveness of the entire teacher testing system, especially aiming to complete the licensing process within teacher training institutions. They were also asked to study approaches for licensing graduates from other fields. Moreover, the council approved using foreign educational qualifications and universities vetted by the Office of the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Board for teacher licensing recognition in cases of overseas graduates. The meeting further approved the annual performance evaluation of the Deputy Secretary-General of the Teachers' Council for the third year of service (3 Jan 2025 - 2 Jan 2026).

The meeting also approved key announcements, plans, and regulations, including: 1) a draft announcement on criteria and procedures for appointing subcommittees to appeal disciplinary decisions regarding professional ethics violations, 2) a draft risk management plan for the Teachers' Council Secretariat for fiscal year 2026, following government agency risk management standards set by the Ministry of Finance, and 3) a draft regulation on appointment, transfer, secondment, promotion, and salary of Teachers' Council staff (2nd edition). They also approved a draft announcement regarding criteria and procedures for staff to receive salaries above the maximum step of their appointed positions. The Secretariat was assigned to handle related processes.

The Minister of Education further reported that the Teachers' Council's operational results were acknowledged during the meeting, including: the report of the Professional Knowledge and Experience Accreditation Subcommittee meeting 1/2569; progress reports on operational plans and budget expenditure for the first quarter (1 Oct - 31 Dec 2025); and implementation reports following the Teachers' Council resolutions from meeting 1/2569 on 29 Jan 2026, covering seven issues.
