A fire broke out in an oil drum storage room near the Thai Red Cross. Officials quickly used water and foam to prevent the fire from spreading. The fire has now been controlled, and no injuries have been reported. Authorities are investigating the cause.
At 09:45 on 11 Mar 2026, Police Lieutenant Nonthacha Saengsom, Deputy Investigation Officer of Pathumwan Police Station, received a report of a fire inside the Thai Red Cross Blood Service Center on Henri Dunant Road, Pathumwan district, Bangkok. He promptly went to inspect the scene with officials from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office and three fire trucks.
The incident occurred in a four-story building named Sapanayika. The fire started on the 1st floor and spread to the 2nd floor. The source was a storage room containing several oil and gas tanks. Bright flames and thick smoke were visible, prompting a heavy water spray outside the building.
Meanwhile, a response team inside the building used water and foam to quickly contain the fire. After nearly an hour, the fire was extinguished, affecting only parts of the 1st and 2nd floors. No injuries were reported. Officials are currently ventilating gas and smoke.
Preliminary findings suggest an electrical short circuit caused the fire. Authorities have coordinated with the forensic team to further investigate the exact cause.
