
Urgent: The Thai cargo ship MAYUREE NAREE was attacked after passing through the Hormuz Strait. The engine room at the stern caught fire and was damaged, forcing 23 crew members to abandon ship.
On 11 March 2026, reports stated that the Thai cargo vessel owned by Precious Company, MAYUREE NAREE (IMO 9323649, Call sign HSGM), flying the Thai flag, was traveling from the UAE to Kandla, India. In the Arabian Sea, about 50 nautical miles from Dubai after passing through the Hormuz Strait, it was hit by an unknown type of weapon from an unidentified party.
The engine room at the stern was damaged by fire, resulting in loss of control and forcing the crew to abandon the ship. There are 23 crew members onboard. The Navy is currently coordinating urgent assistance efforts.
