On 11 Mar 2026 GMT+7, reporters stated that the dry bulk carrier "Mayruree Naree," registered in Thailand and part of the Precious Shipping fleet headquartered in Bangkok, was struck by an unidentified object causing a fire. The ship was about 11 nautical miles off the coast of Oman at the time. The fire has since been put out.
Reports indicate the vessel had 23 crew members onboard. Twenty crew were evacuated immediately, while three remained in the engine room to manage the situation.
Admiral Thadawut Thadpitakkul, Chief of Naval Staff, confirmed the Royal Thai Navy received reports that the Thai commercial ship was fired upon in the Strait of Hormuz within Omani waters. The Navy’s Bahrain military unit used diplomatic channels to coordinate with Oman for assistance in rescuing the entire crew. It was confirmed that all 23 crew members survived.
