Navy Commander Coordinates with Omani Navy to Accelerate Search for 3 Missing Crew Members of Mayuree Naree

The Commander of the Royal Thai Navy sent an urgent message to the Omani Navy Commander, thanking him for helping the Thai crew of 'Mayuree Naree' who were attacked near the Strait of Hormuz, and requested urgent assistance in searching for three crew members still unaccounted for.

On 12 March 2026, reporters reported that the Thai-flagged bulk cargo ship 'Mayuree Naree,' with a deadweight of approximately 30,000 tons and owned by Precious Shipping Public Company Limited, was attacked while sailing in the sea near the Strait of Hormuz. The ship had departed from the port of Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates. The incident occurred on 11 March local time.

Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiyaphan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, revealed that the Thai cargo ship MV Mayuree Naree suffered an explosion causing damage near the Strait of Hormuz. As a result, the Thai crew had to evacuate the ship. Currently, 20 Thai crew members have been safely rescued and brought ashore, thanks to rescue operations by the Omani Navy.

Last night, Admiral Phairoj Fuangchan, Commander of the Royal Thai Navy, sent an urgent message directly to Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Omani Navy, expressing gratitude for the timely assistance to the Thai crew. This reflects the friendship and strong cooperation between the navies of both countries. At the same time, the Royal Thai Navy remains concerned about the fate of three Thai crew members still stranded on the ship. The Navy Commander requested Omani Navy cooperation to intensify the ongoing search efforts to increase the chances of finding and rescuing the remaining crew as soon as possible.

The Royal Thai Navy continues to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with relevant agencies and the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat to fully support the rescue of the Thai crew. It affirms its commitment to exert every effort across all channels to track and assist the remaining Thai crew members until clarity is achieved.
