"Bangkok Metropolitan Administration" (BMA) issues a warning to monitor closely "high tide" from 21-23 March 2026, which may cause flooding in low-lying areas along the Chao Phraya River.
On 21 March 2026, the Facebook pageBangkok Metropolitan Administrationposted a message warning of high tides from 21-23 March 2026. The influence of the high tide, combined with southeasterly winds covering the Andaman Sea, the South, and the Gulf of Thailand, is causing heavy rain in some areas and stronger waves, which will raise sea levels.
As a result, water levels in the river will rise and may flood low-lying areas along the Chao Phraya River, including communities outside the flood barrier, and traffic routes such as Sukhumvit Road, Suksawat Road, and Rama 2 Road. There is also a need to monitor saltwater intrusion, which affects water quality for consumption and agriculture.
