Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn officially opened the 54th National Book Week at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, with the event organizing committee present to pay respects.
At 14:30 on 27 March 2026, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the opening ceremony of the 54th National Book Week and the 24th International Book Week at Hall 8, LG Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok.
Present to receive Her Royal Highness were Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education; Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Minister of Culture; Mr. Pichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of the Basic Education Commission; and Mr. Natthakorn Wutthichaiyapornkul, President of the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand, along with the event organizing committee.
Professor Dr. Narumon reported that this year's National Book Week, under the theme "Legend," conveys that legends are not just stories of the past but truths that transcend time. The concept "Read the Legend" invites readers to trace the legends of books and world-changing figures, exploring the timeless foundations of the present. It turns each page into a mirror reflecting why these stories never die and how they impact the future.
The event featured engaging exhibitions such as the 2026 Outstanding Books exhibition, the Light of Wisdom exhibition honoring Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Read the Legend: Forbidden (Forgotten) Books exhibition, the National Literature exhibition, the 25-year Panwanna Award Literary Path exhibition, and the Little Read Universe: Legend Alive exhibition promoting reading culture for children and families under the concept that legends are the living roots of imagination within every child. Various activities were also available for those in the book community, authors, readers, and interested visitors, all free of charge.
This year, there were 362 publishers participating with over 1,028 booths, and more than 100 stage activities. The event was held continuously from 26 March to 6 April 2026 at Halls 5-8, LG Floor, Queen Sirikit Center.
