On Nut Waste-to-Energy Plant Achieves First Synchronization, Feeds Electricity into Grid

The waste-to-energy project at the On Nut Center in Bangkok announced its success in achieving First Synchronization by connecting the power system to supply clean energy to the grid.

On 10 Apr, Mr. Noppadon Pruksawan, Managing Director of New Sky Energy (Bangkok) Co., Ltd., the operator of the waste-to-energy project at On Nut Waste Center, Bangkok, stated that the company has successfully achieved First Synchronization. This connects the electricity system from the project, which processes at least 1,000 tons of municipal solid waste per day at On Nut, strengthening Thailand's clean energy security. This First Synchronization milestone reflects the readiness of the system and the capability of the technology to efficiently convert waste into energy. The grid connection is conducted under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), delivering electricity through a 115-kilovolt transmission line and connecting via the On Nut substation of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) to supply clean energy into the national power grid in a tangible way.

The waste-to-energy project at the On Nut Waste Center is a key environmentally friendly waste management infrastructure for Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). It not only efficiently reduces the city's municipal solid waste volume but also adds value by producing renewable energy (Waste-to-Energy) fed into the power system, enhancing national energy security.

"This achievement is not only a success for our company but also a significant step for Thailand in developing clean energy infrastructure that integrates environmental management with energy innovation to meet the challenges of the energy crisis era and drive the country toward long-term sustainability," said Mr. Noppadon./

The waste-to-energy project at On Nut Waste Center in Bangkok processes no less than 1,000 tons of municipal solid waste daily and occupies 30 rai in Soi On Nut 86, Prawet Subdistrict, Prawet District, Bangkok. It has a capacity to handle up to 1,600 tons per day and operates under a public-private partnership (BOT) model.(BOT)This enhances Bangkok's environmentally friendly waste management efficiency.
